About
Hello fans and followers!
As someone based in San Francisco, I've been able to easily travel to many places around the country and around the world using United Airline's robust, extensive flight network. My love for United started during the COVID-19 pandemic, when they offered by far the lowest prices, allowing family to re-connect with their loved ones at a critical time. While other airlines tried to severely cut back schedules and fill their middle seats, United Airlines put the customer first and continued to deliver an exceptional passenger experience. To this day, United Airlines has consistently put the customer first - in their most recent application for slots at Cape Town, for instance, Delta has argued that they should be awarded slots, solely because they already have a footprint there and can maximize profits. However, United argued that competition is needed and that the extensive business network of United would better foster a burgeoning economy.
My most memorable time with United Airlines was when I was scheduled to depart out of Honolulu on a late-night flight back to San Francisco. My sister (who I hadn't seen for over 2 years) was supposed to land in the early afternoon so that we could meet, but the inferior American Airlines and Alaska Airlines network resulted in multiple delays and cancellations. However, after speaking with the gate agents at United, they said that they'd try to arrange for a shuttle to bring me from the American terminal to the United terminal (which would have been a 40-minute walk). As I waited patiently at the American flight that came in, I saw that my boarding doors would close momentarily. Luckily, however, the gate agent informed me that I could volunteer to go on a flight tomorrow due to an overbooking!!! Thus, I got hundreds of dollars in flight credits, a hotel stay (which my entire family used that night!), free food, transportation, and more! I also got a nice seat upgrade on my new flight! It turns out that those flight credits lasted me for 2 years on over 14 different flight segments! After this, I also noticed that United would give me large flight credits (that would essentially pay for my flight) every time I was delayed. At this point, I wondered.. why doesn't everyone love United Airlines?
It turns out that much angst towards the airline is attributed to a single event that involved a doctor who lost a few teeth due to an overbooking. However, I think that it is important to note that United has come a VERY VERY far way since then. It's also important to remember that travel is hectic and we are all human. Often, we can get stressed with travel and feel like a fish deep in the ocean, but United Airlines treats each passenger like a beautiful mermaid. It's really amazing how United Airlines manages to coordinate flights, landing slots, food, cleaning, seat arrangements, gate agents, ticketing, baggage, etc. I can barely even make sure I get everything on my shopping list, but United Airlines seamlessly does it all! I hope that in the future, we learn to treat each other nicely, understand each other's needs, and work to accommodate our flight staff and fellow passengers whenever we travel.
My hope is that we can turn our love for United Airlines into a love for others. United Airlines has exceptional core values, and its employees really love the airline. I've spoken to many flight attendants, pilots, and gate agents (even off-record) who only have good things to say about United. I've seen the flight attendants on my red-eyes back to San Francisco have small cooking competitions and potlucks in the back. I've seen the gate agents in San Diego take breaks together after a busy morning. I've seen flight attendants go out of their way to take pictures for passengers and re-seat them so that families can be together. I've seen pilots tell jokes and show weather maps to passengers when flights were delayed. I've even heard of a pilot taking time to write to the tooth fairy for a child on the airplane! Truly, United Airlines has values core to safe and friendly travel.
